DATE NIGHT (WITH CAPTIONS)

After a long time of thinking about it, (and a few failed attempts)  Erick and I were finally able to sneak in a date night yesterday.  It felt so good to get out of the house for a few hours, but I'm not even kidding, the WHOLE time all we could talk about was our baby!  I'm sure that's a given now at this point, though.

The place we drove up to was Paddy Long's, a hidden little joint up in the Northside.  Three words- bacon and beer.  Paddy Long's has a special that is unique to their pub where you come and taste five different beers paired with five delicious strips of bacon from around the globe.  I never imagined how awesome of an idea it was to eat bacon as you drank a beer, but I AM AWARE now.  Erick and I shared a few rounds and ate way too much food... seriously.  Check out Paddy Long's menu and read the description of the bacon bomb.  Yeah, I told you.  That is some Epic Meal Time if I've ever seen it.  To top the night off, as we were having our last beer, the power in the bar went out and we were able to sit romantically by candlelight and enjoy each other's company for a few more minutes.

So what does Sofia think about all this?  Let's just say it probably won't be happening anytime soon.  The girl is smart.  It's like she knows when we're getting ready to leave her because the chill, well- mannered baby we had turned into an inconsolable crying troublemaker in the matter of a few days.  I could just picture what was going on inside her tiny little head:

OH HAI MOM AND DAD!  I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!  ARE YOU GOING TO STAY AND PLAY WITH ME?

OH. YOU WANT TO GO ON A DATE, HUH?  LET ME CALL MY SECRETARY SEE IF I CAN PENCIL YOU IN ANOTHER TIME.

HI, SECRETARY.  MOM AND DAD WANT TO DATE.  AM I FREE IN A FEW HOURS?

HMM... I AM? ARE YOU SURE? CUS I REEEALLY WANT THEM TO STAY.

OKAY!  I LOVE YOU ANYWAY!  SEE YOU IN A FEW HOURS!

  2. I'll see if I can manage that... Lol. Erick has yet to stand infront of a camera for a pic yet let one write anything... Plus I only have one adorable person to take pics of while he's working! Haha. But I will try. I know too many baby pics everyday can get annoying!

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

welcoming fall: hiking together

A while back, I had posted about dreading the change of the season.  I was so caught up in my whirlwind of a summer, the beautiful weather, the bare feet, the music and late night dancing in the wilderness, camping, and vacations that I barely remembered or welcomed the un-rushed pace that comes with the beginning of fall. Living in the middle of the city has been a blessing for finding new, exciting and bustling places to eat and explore, but so many times I'm wishing for the opportunity to do something a little less... urban .  I grew up in the country, and Erick, in the city- so now we've been doing our best to give our child the best of both worlds. We took a drive about 40 minutes south of the city to a little place in the suburbs and welcomed the crisp and cool air that kissed our cheeks as we embarked on a tiny adventure in the forest.  Hiking with a toddler is such an enriching exper...

what sofia eats, v.1

grape tomatoes, avocado, grilled veggie burger and annie's cheddar bunnies             green seedless grapes with pancakes             cheddar potato pierogis, tangerine slices, garlic pearled couscous with corn           Diapers & Skinny Jeans will be slowly introducing more and more new, original content over the next coming weeks, and I'm excited to announce I'm bringing back the "What Sofia Eats" portion of the blog to you.  (Especially since it doesn't consist of rice cereal and mashed bananas anymore!)  Since I started a bit late, I only have three meals to show you this week-- but, I'm hoping to catch every meal for the next seven days.  I know I've personally struggled at times with finding inspiration for kiddo meals, so I figure if anyone else out there has run into a similar problem, hopefully these meals can give y...
