PICNIC BASKET

Today, I am home.

I find after traveling, it takes a moment to regroup and accustom yourself to your old surroundings.  When Erick and I arrived last afternoon, the first thing Sofia did was shriek!  She waved her arms up and down and paddled through the air back and forth into her Papa's arms and back to my own.  Though she truly does have the best time with her grandparents, it was such a relief to see that she didn't skip a beat in making us feel secure in our vacation plans.  We've missed her so much.  Today we kept things simple and quiet around the house, reading our favorite books on the lawn with a picnic basket full of blocks.  Life right now is quite possibly the best it's ever been, and I most definitely will be making the outdoor story time something that happens more often around here!

Sofia picked out Violet's borrowed shirt from the wash today!
I think someone misses her playdate buddy.

  3. I see some pearly whites! It looks she's getting all of her teeth at once. I hope she is handling the teething well. Olive seemed to get all of her front teeth in within what seemed like a week. She was great with natural teething tablets most of the time but occasionally I would have to give her some baby pain medicine.

    She's such a beautiful baby!
    And welcome home!

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

welcoming fall: hiking together

A while back, I had posted about dreading the change of the season.  I was so caught up in my whirlwind of a summer, the beautiful weather, the bare feet, the music and late night dancing in the wilderness, camping, and vacations that I barely remembered or welcomed the un-rushed pace that comes with the beginning of fall. Living in the middle of the city has been a blessing for finding new, exciting and bustling places to eat and explore, but so many times I'm wishing for the opportunity to do something a little less... urban .  I grew up in the country, and Erick, in the city- so now we've been doing our best to give our child the best of both worlds. We took a drive about 40 minutes south of the city to a little place in the suburbs and welcomed the crisp and cool air that kissed our cheeks as we embarked on a tiny adventure in the forest.  Hiking with a toddler is such an enriching exper...

what sofia eats, v.1

grape tomatoes, avocado, grilled veggie burger and annie's cheddar bunnies             green seedless grapes with pancakes             cheddar potato pierogis, tangerine slices, garlic pearled couscous with corn           Diapers & Skinny Jeans will be slowly introducing more and more new, original content over the next coming weeks, and I'm excited to announce I'm bringing back the "What Sofia Eats" portion of the blog to you.  (Especially since it doesn't consist of rice cereal and mashed bananas anymore!)  Since I started a bit late, I only have three meals to show you this week-- but, I'm hoping to catch every meal for the next seven days.  I know I've personally struggled at times with finding inspiration for kiddo meals, so I figure if anyone else out there has run into a similar problem, hopefully these meals can give y...
