in the city : star lounge coffee

This is our usual Wednesday- a trip north to the city, late breakfast with pancakes and eggs to share, new cafes, time spent walking outside, no concrete plans at all. Today I was in search for the best coffee in the city and was smitten with our choice of Star Lounge Coffee Bar.  I would have never been able to find this hidden gem without the help of my friend Jenny, so here most sincerely, is my thank you.

I felt it necessary to add Sofia didn't actually get a true taste of my latte, just a bit of the chocolatey foamed milk on top.  Such a curious little one we have...

  4. My little one does the same thing! I usually scoop it off for him with a spoon. Today, though, was too hot for one of those. A big iced coffee for my husband and I this afternoon...

    1. Iced does sound delicious... we had a very mild day today, thinking I may have to whip up a batch at home this weekend.

  5. I'm glad you and your cute little family were able to make it there! A friend told me it was worth the trip and I was so happy to sit there and work in the sunny window toward the back for 4 hours the other day. This place made me happy and calm. Cheers! :D

  12. Oooh their menu sounds sooo good. A Mayan mocha with cinnamon and cayenne? YUM. I've stopped drinking coffee so I don't have to worry about my caffeine intake, but it has had some terrible side effects. Including jealousy :)

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

Hello, It's Me

* screeeeeeech.... opens door * Hello? Are you in there? I'm baaaaaaack! Holy shnikeys! It's only been a good two years or so. Talk about a blogging hiatus. So, after many many failed attempts at fancy Squarespace sites and having absolutely zero direction on which way I wanted to go, I found myself right back here. Good 'ol blogger. Good 'ol free simple template. Good 'ol feed with all my old friends. It's been a long, long time. And it feels weird! But I'm dusting off the cobwebs anyway and just writing because I need to. Plain and simple. Now, a few things-- the blog title is a bit different. My kiddos are nearly three and five years old so diapers [thankfully] are a thing of the past. Hallelujah! And if you haven't heard, folks, skinny jeans are out. They're done! Bring on the bellbottoms, culottes and 90's fashion revival. You heard it here first, everyone. Just wait.  Also. Growing up. I kinda laugh at how much...

alba growing: one month

A few weeks ago, Little Alba turned a month old - still so new and tiny, but a precious soul that seems like she's been here all along.  Her thighs are quickly chunking up, as are her cheeks, and this mama can't get enough! The days are long and my time is stretched thin, but we are having such a wonderful time just figuring each other out. When evening hits, the tummy troubles begin and we rock and sing to make the gas bubbles go away. Once you've finally fallen asleep, you'll remain that way for the remainder of the night and we'll feed again once the day breaks.  You are alert and learning, constantly filling our hearts with more love than we ever imagined.
