slow days

These days, though blissful and dreamy, seem to have a much slower pace.  We are all taking time to get to know one another, to find our new rhythm, and learn how to fill our new role as family of four.  Five straight days out of the week Erick is working and I'm left alone with one completely rambunctious toddler and a little dove, still so very new.  I try to stay in bed most days (if I'm lucky enough to do so!) and nap with my two girls, read stories, catch up on emails and comfortably nurse.

My mother brought us a few wonderful, home-cooked meals, friends have dropped by with gifts and treats, we've received so many beautiful and thoughtful well-wishes from near and far.  My heart is warmed, and though I may not have had much time to comment or respond, I have read each and everything that has been said, and opened up each package sent with a squeal of delight. We are all individually overwhelmed with gratitude!

On Wednesday, the sun was shining a bit brighter and I caught a wind of energy.  I made a batch of mixed berry scones and complimented a bit of quiet time with a cup of my favorite Paris tea.  I go to bed each night and wake each morning with a newfound mission to live each day to its fullest potential, no matter how redundant it may seem.  I am lucky to have time I can spend at home for a few weeks, and not once do I forget just how important that is.

Your scones look delicious and it sounds as though life at your house is magic.

Your blog is looking beautiful by the way! I really like the layout, it all looks so sharp and professional. Bit jealous...

  5. this picture is so so beautiful. I am so glad you are having some slow days with your girls. enjoy, every blissful second. I made scones yesterday. Every time I carve out a second to bake, I am reminded to slowdown and sort things patiently. Life, baking, our children....some things just can't be hurried. xo

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

Hello, It's Me

* screeeeeeech.... opens door * Hello? Are you in there? I'm baaaaaaack! Holy shnikeys! It's only been a good two years or so. Talk about a blogging hiatus. So, after many many failed attempts at fancy Squarespace sites and having absolutely zero direction on which way I wanted to go, I found myself right back here. Good 'ol blogger. Good 'ol free simple template. Good 'ol feed with all my old friends. It's been a long, long time. And it feels weird! But I'm dusting off the cobwebs anyway and just writing because I need to. Plain and simple. Now, a few things-- the blog title is a bit different. My kiddos are nearly three and five years old so diapers [thankfully] are a thing of the past. Hallelujah! And if you haven't heard, folks, skinny jeans are out. They're done! Bring on the bellbottoms, culottes and 90's fashion revival. You heard it here first, everyone. Just wait.  Also. Growing up. I kinda laugh at how much...

alba growing: one month

A few weeks ago, Little Alba turned a month old - still so new and tiny, but a precious soul that seems like she's been here all along.  Her thighs are quickly chunking up, as are her cheeks, and this mama can't get enough! The days are long and my time is stretched thin, but we are having such a wonderful time just figuring each other out. When evening hits, the tummy troubles begin and we rock and sing to make the gas bubbles go away. Once you've finally fallen asleep, you'll remain that way for the remainder of the night and we'll feed again once the day breaks.  You are alert and learning, constantly filling our hearts with more love than we ever imagined.
