BIG NEWS: SAY WHAT?

Sofia: Is this real life?

The rumors are true.  I've made a very important decision.  A decision that I never would have been able to make if it wasn't for my incredible husband who selflessly lets me pursue what my heart desires.

I'm stepping down to a part-time position at work.  Temporarily.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it!  This means more time to spend with this amazing little butterball that has forever changed my life.  This means more time.  This means all of those projects I've started but can never finish will get some well-deserved attention.  This means I'll be blogging more.  And most importantly, this means I will not miss any more important first moments that I could never get back.

I'm near tears.

If it wasn't for Erick working full time to help support this loss of income we'll be unavoidably be taking, none of this would have been possible.  Of course we'll be budgeting even harder than we've had to before, but for Sofia, anything we do will always be worth it.  I know that if I didn't get the opportunity to stay with my little girl during her important first year of life I would forever regret it.

Now, because I'm married to an amazing man I don't have to regret it.

With love and trust, anything is truly possible.

I've found so much peace.

the birthing of alba mae

From the beginning, this pregnancy seemed so much the same, yet so distinctly different all at once. I didn't get sick, I wasn't too turned away by my favorite foods, I had occasional heartburn here and there and overall, was able to relax and enjoy the experience.  What was strange was how differently I was carrying - having been told more times than I could count that I had looked as if I had "swallowed a basketball".  I think I was persuaded a few times in my head that maybe this was  different, maybe it really was a baby boy.  Yet still, in my heart I had an overwhelming intuition I would be holding another little girl in my arms, someone so very similar to her sister yet so distinctly different all at once. My little may flower. Saturday night, the air was warm and sticky.  Sofia, Erick and I read stories by a big window fan in her room trying to distract ourselves from the heat in our upstairs apartment. ...
