IT WASN'T ALL GIGGLES AND SUGARPLUMS

CHRISTMAS MORNING AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE

M y dearest Sofia, yesterday was your very first Christmas!  We spent the night at your Grandma's house with your littlest aunts and had so much fun opening presents.  Mommy couldn't believe how well you could rip that paper up and grab for your gifts out of bags!  You were able to see your aunties and all of your cousins that you don't see that often, and you even cheered on D-Rose as the Bulls won their Christmas game in the last quarter!  I can't get over just how good of a girl you are and how happy, aware, and sweet you are.  You are the most perfect daughter and I couldn't be more overjoyed watching you experience the magic of giving this season.

BROWN PAPER PACKAGES TIED UP WITH STRING

W e're getting so close to Christmas and I've been super super busy on these days off!  Wrapping with simple kraft paper and black ribbon/twine this year.  Erick always makes fun of me because apparently he was the FIRST ONE to use kraft paper (last Christmas).   Whatever.  Haha. We're so competitive in that friendly married friends type of way. I'm going to be updating the blog with an even more informative sidebar soon, I'll make sure to give you the complete update after I get this baby down for a nap.  Did I mention how incredibly hard it is to get your six month old daughter on a "schedule" when she spends nearly every other day with a different person at a different house?  Yeah.  Not gonna happen. PS- do you like my socks? ;)

WEEKENDING

O ver the weekend we-- put up our christmas lights, watched movie trailers on iTunes, bought groceries (including kale- I'm nervous!!) cleaned the apartment, took a photo for our cards and have gotten a little closer to finally checking everyone off of the 'ole Christmas list.  I always put too much stress on myself when I wait until the last minute to do everything, but seeing as how it happens every year, I guess it's safe to say I haven't learned my lesson yet. ;)

HANDMADE HOLIDAYS

Y esterday began my journey with all of my handmade holiday presents.  Erick and I drove all around the north side of the city stopping at Hancock Fabrics and Paper Source to pick up some supplies I've been needing for a while to finish up these projects.  Even funnier, yesterday Abby posted about making some gift tags too!  (We must be on the same wavelength again!)  I'm hoping I can bust out some more projects on this gloomy day and maybe even end with a batch of sugar cookies.  Oooh-wee!  Let's just see what happens.   Let's just see.

CAUGHT THE CHRISTMAS BUG

* No Sofia's were hurt or left unattended with Christmas lights during this shoot. Well isn't that just the cutest thing. Ever. In the world. Pretty amazing the awe and inspiration you can get from $3.99 lights at your nearest grocery store. I originally got the idea from all the web browsing I've done recently- I've seen some adorable renditions, particularly here and here .  I'm not sure what it is, but now that I'm seeing it from a  brand new set of (little baby) eyes, things just seem a little more special this year.
