ringing in the new year | off switch

Today you can see the piece I wrote / photographed for the lovely  Off Switch Blog . It's an untraditional take on New Year's resolutions and a look into our family's culture.

back to basics

If you haven't had a chance to pop on over to Off Switch Blog  recently, Katie has been up to a lot of fantastic things.  She launched her new paper goods and hand-knit shop and there are so many delightful goodies that I can't wait to get my hands on.  I've been writing bi-weekly over in her space for her brand new column, Back To Basics . Alongside some very fantastic company, the lovely  Britty Wesely  and Heather Zweig  will be sharing their talents there too. It's a lot of fun ~ we're stripping down everyday life and sharing words and photos in their most simplistic form. Hoping you enjoy the new read!

cafe chats : katie michels

I spent some time last week with my good friend Katie of Off Switch Magazine .  It's always wonderful to spend some time with other creatives to talk blog , photos, projects and life - especially over a steaming cup of coffee or tea.  Katie has some exciting things up her sleeve with the future of the magazine and I can't wait to see how her journey unfolds. Hope you all are off to a lovely week, we have quite the busy one planned over here... (deep breaths!)

off switch magazine : kickstarter

The big day is finally here - in just a few short weeks, Off Switch Magazine has launched their Kickstarter campaign , updated their new website , and taken a huge  plunge... and they need your help! If you've been inspired as I have by the magazine, or if you're anxious to start building your collection, Katie has come up with some fabulous rewards for making a pledge to her project.  I am so, so proud of the hard work that has been put in, especially by Katie, and I know how incredibly important this funding is to the future of her business. Artists everywhere can understand - when you love something so much and give it everything you have, jumping out into the unknown is always terrifying.  I have faith that even if there are a few mistakes along the way, we get a few bruised knees, broken hearts, sleepless nights... it's all worth it in the end. behind the scenes at off switch

Katie Michels, the editor in chief behind  Off Switch Magazine , recently recapped our amazing day of shooting at the  byTheBarkers  studio on her blog .  Erick and I are both so grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing and inspiring creatives, and are looking forward to being able to share photos and video from the day when the time comes.  Working as a husband-and-wife team has given me so many ideas for the coming year... can't describe how amazing it is to have a partner you look up to romantically and  professionally.  I love him to the moon and back!
