THE MAGNIFICENT MILE

We recently took a trip to the magnificent mile like proper Chicago tourists, and this is what it looked like from mine and his perspective.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!  Erick and I will be heading over to catch some coverage of the Mad Decent Block Party and then it's back to editing these final weddings and sending them out to the happy couples.  I've heard from some of you that you miss hearing about daily life here.  I promise you I'll be making more of an effort to catch you up on what happens on the daily grind soon, even if it really isn't that interesting.  I've had a lot of things on my mind lately that might be beneficial to share here in this space.  Who knows?

Off to enjoy the day, you should do the same.

  6. @Carissa- Honestly, it's really the times of the day that we're out. Most often the high afternoon sun is too harsh, so early morning light or right as it turns to evening is when I catch the light I'm looking for. But don't get me wrong... so much of it is happenstance! And shooting directly into the sun can produce some cool effects, too!

  7. You have captured the city wonderfully, some shots remind me a little of Sydney. Monika.

Week 27 Update

Hello fellow internet peoples.  Decided to give a HD video update for the beginning of my third trimester.  (WE SO EXCITED!)  It was a ton of fun to make, this time we were at home in Chicago.  Erick had a bunch of lighting equipment after all the interviews he did with the chicago school councils, so before he had to ship them back we took full advantage ;)  I'm learning more about codec and h.264 and prores 422 and although it makes absolutely no sense to me, maybe it will be useful knowledge in the future.  What do I know? It was obviously a very gesture laden, emotional, 10 minute interview.  I hope you all enjoy it.  It really is longer than I expected but instead of completely chopping it up, I decided to leave it how it is.  It's pure, natural, pregnant-y goodness of brain farts, odd humor, and searching for the right words.  If you make it to the end, remind me to give you a gold star or something.  I'll do it. ** A ...

bump : a thank you

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome on our littlest growing member of the De La Rosa family - we are so lucky and blessed, that is for sure!  Lots of time has been spent the past few weeks celebrating with friends and family, though a certain "weight" has been lifted now that it's truly out in the open.  (Ahhhh...)   Erick and I knew right away that this go-around, we were going to try everything we could to have the birth we wanted, so we've switched our prenatal care from a standard OBGYN practitioner to one of the only midwife groups in the state.  Although it is becoming more common, midwives and water births are still extremely difficult to come by.   In Illinois specifically, there are only two birthing centers in a 50 mile radius willing to offer this to us - and one of these didn't take our healthcare plan.  It's crazy how many long nights were spent researching on the web and phoning out to different practices, but I am so happ...
