24 HOURS IN VEGAS

Over the weekend my superhero of a Dad surprised my Mom for her 50th birthday by flying the entire family out to Las Vegas!  (And really, my Mom looks like she's 25 doesn't she?) It's been so sad lately having my sister live in California and my family nearly 2 hours away, so coming together (even if it only was for a short time) was such a great surprise for everyone!

Thursday night, only my Dad and Mom went together to Vegas as her "first" surprise.  Then on Friday,  my youngest thirteen year old sister and my grandparents surprised them in the morning- my Mom couldn't even believe it!  Thinking she was done with surprises, my Dad hits her two more times with Erick and I, then shortly followed with my middle sister, Becca.

All in all it was a fantastic weekend taking in as many sights, sounds, and experiences we could together while still managing to have a few relaxing hours in the amazing pools of the Cesar's Palace hotel.  I'm sure it will be something my Mom will remember forever, and for someone who usually sucks at surprises... my Dad rocked this.

  10. HOT MAMA IN THE HOUSE.

    Actually a couple of them.

So glad you had fun in Vegas with your family, it sounds like a blast! Still bummed you were so close and yet so far from us. Some day we will have get our girls together for a play date and take ridiculous amounts of pictures and talk nutrition... even if they're 22 when we actually do it.

  12. @ Carrie @Kylie - You both are just too kind. Thank you! :)

    @ Mariana - Oh, friend welcome! I'm so glad you're here :)

@ Carissa - Thank you! I know what you mean. It seems I need to start planning these Florida AND Australia vacations. I need to be posting more, I've really fallen behind in client work, but I should be back to normal here soon. I would love to just let it all out, talk about what's happening with life... maybe even talk about this apartment I'm praying will clean itself. (Not happening. Shucks.)

I appreciate you kicking my butt in gear!

Much love to your family. xo

  14. You mean CA and Australia?... ;)

Isn't it kind of funny how Summer has become busy for us rather than the period of vacation that it's always portrayed as? Well, now that I think about my autumn to do list, EVERY season for that matter. Anyway, I'm just glad to hear that things are well with you and yours. So much love to your family as well!

the birthing of alba mae

From the beginning, this pregnancy seemed so much the same, yet so distinctly different all at once. I didn't get sick, I wasn't too turned away by my favorite foods, I had occasional heartburn here and there and overall, was able to relax and enjoy the experience.  What was strange was how differently I was carrying - having been told more times than I could count that I had looked as if I had "swallowed a basketball".  I think I was persuaded a few times in my head that maybe this was  different, maybe it really was a baby boy.  Yet still, in my heart I had an overwhelming intuition I would be holding another little girl in my arms, someone so very similar to her sister yet so distinctly different all at once. My little may flower. Saturday night, the air was warm and sticky.  Sofia, Erick and I read stories by a big window fan in her room trying to distract ourselves from the heat in our upstairs apartment. ...
