trick or treat

I never was one to get overly excited about Halloween.  As I was younger it was a time for partying, (as most holidays are) and dressing up in ridiculous costumes.  After becoming a mother, I realized it was much more fun to dress up your child and see the look on their face when they experience the horrific joy that is candy... lots and lots of candy.  We trekked out and about in the chill of the autumn night, headed around town with Sofia and family to try our luck in a bit of trick-or-treating.  The air was a sharp difference from our beach day, much cooler with a breeze that nipped our ears.

We all headed home at the end of the night with pinched red cheeks and watery eyes.

Though she wasn't able to fully say "trick or treat," Sofia proved to be very good at saying "thank-ooo" to all the nice people that were putting candy in her basket, and telling them "bye-bye!" as she left.  We had so much fun celebrating this year, it really was the first time that we were able to participate in the holiday.

Such fun!

My favorite highlight:  Trying to touch Sofia's candy basket- she wouldn't let anyone get too close.

  7. Amazing! We don't really celebrate Halloween here in Australia but I lived in Montreal for two years and it was my favourite holiday. I think it is so much fun to dress up and eat lollies and everyone seems to be so open to creativity and generosity.

Week 27 Update

Hello fellow internet peoples.  Decided to give a HD video update for the beginning of my third trimester.  (WE SO EXCITED!)  It was a ton of fun to make, this time we were at home in Chicago.  Erick had a bunch of lighting equipment after all the interviews he did with the chicago school councils, so before he had to ship them back we took full advantage ;)  I'm learning more about codec and h.264 and prores 422 and although it makes absolutely no sense to me, maybe it will be useful knowledge in the future.  What do I know? It was obviously a very gesture laden, emotional, 10 minute interview.  I hope you all enjoy it.  It really is longer than I expected but instead of completely chopping it up, I decided to leave it how it is.  It's pure, natural, pregnant-y goodness of brain farts, odd humor, and searching for the right words.  If you make it to the end, remind me to give you a gold star or something.  I'll do it. ** A ...

bump : week 23

The sub-zero weather has kept us indoors, but it hasn't kept us from having the most amount of fun possible.  I've been enjoying hot cups of tea served with teaspoons of sugar and condensed milk, curling up with my favorite blanket and enjoying the tap-tap, nudge-nudge of the littlest De La Rosa.  Though I find myself playing catch up yet again (I'm 24 weeks!) I'm not complaining in the least bit.  I've had this little family of mine all to myself for a full four days with no work, no emails, no agenda and no pressure.   Ahhhhh... happy winter celebration, little baby. PS- did you know Erick finally launched his website ?  It's up, it's responsive, and it's gorgeous. I'm a proud muma bear.
