what sofia eats, v.1

grape tomatoes, avocado, grilled veggie burger and annie's cheddar bunnies

      green seedless grapes with pancakes

cheddar potato pierogis, tangerine slices, garlic pearled couscous with corn

Diapers & Skinny Jeans will be slowly introducing more and more new, original content over the next coming weeks, and I'm excited to announce I'm bringing back the "What Sofia Eats" portion of the blog to you.  (Especially since it doesn't consist of rice cereal and mashed bananas anymore!)

Since I started a bit late, I only have three meals to show you this week-- but, I'm hoping to catch every meal for the next seven days.  I know I've personally struggled at times with finding inspiration for kiddo meals, so I figure if anyone else out there has run into a similar problem, hopefully these meals can give you something new to try with your little one.  We've been pretty lucky that Sofia will try most anything once, though certain things like broccoli or peas are still a big "ick!"

PS- thank you for all of your great discussion on yesterday's seasonal post.  It is so wonderful when you all chime in and share your own personal stories.  I truly enjoyed reading every last one of them!

  1. Thank you for starting up this series again! It can be hard coming up with new meals weekly for my little one. I need all the inspiration I can get : )

  2. Oh, and I noticed Sofia's White Sox shirt! I'm from the Chicago area but, sadly I don't live in Illinois anymore : /

  3. What a small world! Illinois is great, but I'm not sure that I'm ready for our Chicago winter quite yet. Thankfully it seems to be headed in a mild direction so far.

  5. Fantastic! I'm always looking out for new ideas except I have a fussy 4 year old that I'm trying to UN-fussy! I have to say that as of last Wednesday she is finally eating broccoli! My trick? Serve it every night :)

  7. What beautiful meals you are creating for your babe! Our little people eat anything and I really believe it's because of the variety of food we have exposed them too. Well done Mumma! Wishing you a delightful week.

  8. my favourite thing about feeding the kids is chopping everything into bite sized portions and separating them. Even salad must me served by colour!

As for baby/kid food- fritters are a healthy fave here. My friends and I always joke that 'you can fritt anything'!

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

bump : week 33

The cold weather made being able to see my burgeoning baby bump over the layers of clothing nearly impossible, but it didn't stop us from going and having an adventure.  Yesterday Erick, Sofia, baby and I took a hike in a muddy forest just outside of the city.  Baby is stronger than ever, jabbing and kicking with such force that sometimes all I can do is just sit down and laugh.  My belly will bounce and ripple, and every now and again I'll catch Sofia or Erick looking over with a wide-eyed stare.  We can't wait to find out who it is that's growing in here and causing such a ruckus! The reality is truly starting to set in, and I've been reading up a lot on water birth and catching up on episodes of The Midwives I've downloaded (I cry every time!)  This pregnancy journey has been so much fun.  Relaxed, exciting, and fun. Huge smile! WEARING: KNIT DRESS IN BLACK BY AMERICAN APPAREL  |  PHOTOS: BY ERICK ...

alba growing: one month

A few weeks ago, Little Alba turned a month old - still so new and tiny, but a precious soul that seems like she's been here all along.  Her thighs are quickly chunking up, as are her cheeks, and this mama can't get enough! The days are long and my time is stretched thin, but we are having such a wonderful time just figuring each other out. When evening hits, the tummy troubles begin and we rock and sing to make the gas bubbles go away. Once you've finally fallen asleep, you'll remain that way for the remainder of the night and we'll feed again once the day breaks.  You are alert and learning, constantly filling our hearts with more love than we ever imagined.
