DO WHATEVER YOU CAN

For all you working mamas out there, I totally get where you're coming from.  It is such a bittersweet feeling to be able to 'do my part' in providing for my family.  I just went from a schedule where they were going to "ease me back" into working full time, to then... boom. 40+ hours. Overtime. Train commute and a busted car window.  It's been a crazy week!

As hard as it is to manage spending so much time away from my daughter and still making the commitment to continue to breastfeed, I feel so fulfilled with my job.    I'd have to say the part I love the most is how heavy my workload is.  You'd think the opposite right?  I did too.  After all I've been through lately, in my head I feel like I'd rather just lay low and not do a lot.  Slack off.  But as good as all that sounded in my head, slacking off doesn't fare well with boredom.  Actually, it encourages it.  I'm the type of person ( like a lot of you out there ) that gets bored reeeeeally easily, so being able to constantly have something to do with pressure, deadlines, responsibility, and the ability to be a point of contact for people has been a really great change.  I'm digging this.

I know there has been a lack of photos, the 60d is currently being babysat by some family members in Plainfield because someone accidentally forgot it there after Sofia's baptism party (whoops!) We will have more up soon of miss babycakes, I just wanted to make sure I let you readers know that we're doing everything we can right now.  We're taking the time to work really hard, earn money, enjoy our daughter and each other.  We're working on side projects, we're having a lot of late nights, we're trying to squeeze in moments to design, to paint, and sometimes just to sit down on the couch and catch up on Master Chef.  This is life now, it's different in a million crazy little ways.  We're learning to appreciate things as they come.  To do what we can in the moment.

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

bump : week 33

The cold weather made being able to see my burgeoning baby bump over the layers of clothing nearly impossible, but it didn't stop us from going and having an adventure.  Yesterday Erick, Sofia, baby and I took a hike in a muddy forest just outside of the city.  Baby is stronger than ever, jabbing and kicking with such force that sometimes all I can do is just sit down and laugh.  My belly will bounce and ripple, and every now and again I'll catch Sofia or Erick looking over with a wide-eyed stare.  We can't wait to find out who it is that's growing in here and causing such a ruckus! The reality is truly starting to set in, and I've been reading up a lot on water birth and catching up on episodes of The Midwives I've downloaded (I cry every time!)  This pregnancy journey has been so much fun.  Relaxed, exciting, and fun. Huge smile! WEARING: KNIT DRESS IN BLACK BY AMERICAN APPAREL  |  PHOTOS: BY ERICK ...

Hello, It's Me

* screeeeeeech.... opens door * Hello? Are you in there? I'm baaaaaaack! Holy shnikeys! It's only been a good two years or so. Talk about a blogging hiatus. So, after many many failed attempts at fancy Squarespace sites and having absolutely zero direction on which way I wanted to go, I found myself right back here. Good 'ol blogger. Good 'ol free simple template. Good 'ol feed with all my old friends. It's been a long, long time. And it feels weird! But I'm dusting off the cobwebs anyway and just writing because I need to. Plain and simple. Now, a few things-- the blog title is a bit different. My kiddos are nearly three and five years old so diapers [thankfully] are a thing of the past. Hallelujah! And if you haven't heard, folks, skinny jeans are out. They're done! Bring on the bellbottoms, culottes and 90's fashion revival. You heard it here first, everyone. Just wait.  Also. Growing up. I kinda laugh at how much...
