bump : week 35

The dwindling days of late pregnancy are coming to a close, and all the time we thought we had left to finish up the tiny details is quickly passing us by.  As of today, I am thirty-six weeks and three days.  It has completely taken me off guard that many of you have checked in with us, making sure we're okay - especially since it's been a few weeks since we've jumped back into the series. To everyone that's said hello, we thank you. We're still here, just busily trying to stay on top of things around the house, meeting up with and put finishing touches on sessions with photo and video clients, taking the plunge into a brand new career (more on this later!) and basically just playing a giant game of catch up!

It has been raining here lately.  Lots of rain.  While I'm thankful for the stormy weather and Spring's appearance around Chicago, we haven't had many opportunities to be outdoors for many of our portraits. We've made the most of it last week with a few simple shots before I got ready for work, no makeup, morning hair, and cup of coffee still in hand.

You know, real life.

  1. Beautiful! You look wonderful, and content to be pregnant. I feel like some women are so eager for it to be over they actually look uncomfortable all the time. You really look like you are glowing, from the inside out. Good luck on your final weeks:)

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

bump : week 33

The cold weather made being able to see my burgeoning baby bump over the layers of clothing nearly impossible, but it didn't stop us from going and having an adventure.  Yesterday Erick, Sofia, baby and I took a hike in a muddy forest just outside of the city.  Baby is stronger than ever, jabbing and kicking with such force that sometimes all I can do is just sit down and laugh.  My belly will bounce and ripple, and every now and again I'll catch Sofia or Erick looking over with a wide-eyed stare.  We can't wait to find out who it is that's growing in here and causing such a ruckus! The reality is truly starting to set in, and I've been reading up a lot on water birth and catching up on episodes of The Midwives I've downloaded (I cry every time!)  This pregnancy journey has been so much fun.  Relaxed, exciting, and fun. Huge smile! WEARING: KNIT DRESS IN BLACK BY AMERICAN APPAREL  |  PHOTOS: BY ERICK ...

Hello, It's Me

* screeeeeeech.... opens door * Hello? Are you in there? I'm baaaaaaack! Holy shnikeys! It's only been a good two years or so. Talk about a blogging hiatus. So, after many many failed attempts at fancy Squarespace sites and having absolutely zero direction on which way I wanted to go, I found myself right back here. Good 'ol blogger. Good 'ol free simple template. Good 'ol feed with all my old friends. It's been a long, long time. And it feels weird! But I'm dusting off the cobwebs anyway and just writing because I need to. Plain and simple. Now, a few things-- the blog title is a bit different. My kiddos are nearly three and five years old so diapers [thankfully] are a thing of the past. Hallelujah! And if you haven't heard, folks, skinny jeans are out. They're done! Bring on the bellbottoms, culottes and 90's fashion revival. You heard it here first, everyone. Just wait.  Also. Growing up. I kinda laugh at how much...
