opinions needed.

Alright, so this is my fourth day in a row of waking up crazy early- (7:30!!) and if there is one thing that keeps a smile on my face it's knowing that the last few days haven't been a dream.  This is one hundred and fifty percent real, people.  I'm so happy.

I have a lot of running to do today, think I am going to hit up Oakbrook for a simple, pretty dress for our Saturday courthouse date and I may get some more organizational things for the desk.  Groceries are number two on the list- fridge has been pretty barren these past few days.  I feel bad for Erick.  This is where I need your help guys... I'm running out of ideas for quick meals!  We were watching our first set of childbirth class dvds and they talked about one early preliminary sign of labor being a "burst of energy" where I would just clean and cook and reorganize everything.  Well.... yeah.  I'm still waiting on that one.  The poor man just needs me to cook!

Hopefully if I get an early enough start today I'll be home in time to clean up a bit and get dinner started. What have been your go-to dinners lately?  It's getting harder and harder for me to come up with new ideas so I figured I would try and get some inspiration from you all. :)

  1. Manny and I made baked chicken (marinated in Mr. Stubb's chicken marinade), sprouted brown rice, and mini tandoori chicken samosas last night (made by Tandoor Oven--I think Trader Joe's has 'em). Just an idea! We don't make dinner together that often but when we do we make a feast haha.

  4. First of all, your story still makes me cry. :)

Second, I have some recipes on my public folder if you want to check them out. I think I have the recipe for my grandma's green mole. If you try it and have questions give me a holler. I also have a great one for fideo. It's not that quick and easy, but it's delicious and it lasts a couple of days.

    Have a great day tomorrow!

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

bump : week 22

I've said it before, but if I could pack up and move my entire family straight into the By The Barkers studio space, I would. Absolute heaven! As for our little one, he or she has been giving me strong, swift kicks - especially around bed time.  Waves and ripples dance across my belly as I lay in bed waiting, watching.  I'll admit, it's been difficult for Erick and I since we've decided to keep things a surprise as far as the gender.  We were both so used to the feeling of knowing with Sofia that it's made this pregnancy a completely unique experience.  My intuition keeps swaying back and forth wondering if this little one is a boy or girl, and judging by the way that I look, feel and eat, my best guess is that we have another little lady on the way. (Though, if you ask Sofia, she's already told us she thinks baby is a "bruh-der")  !!! Mamas out there, was your intuition right? Any tell-tale signs or...

welcoming fall: hiking together

A while back, I had posted about dreading the change of the season.  I was so caught up in my whirlwind of a summer, the beautiful weather, the bare feet, the music and late night dancing in the wilderness, camping, and vacations that I barely remembered or welcomed the un-rushed pace that comes with the beginning of fall. Living in the middle of the city has been a blessing for finding new, exciting and bustling places to eat and explore, but so many times I'm wishing for the opportunity to do something a little less... urban .  I grew up in the country, and Erick, in the city- so now we've been doing our best to give our child the best of both worlds. We took a drive about 40 minutes south of the city to a little place in the suburbs and welcomed the crisp and cool air that kissed our cheeks as we embarked on a tiny adventure in the forest.  Hiking with a toddler is such an enriching exper...
