the last days of winter

The last days of winter always spark desire for change.  I can start to smell spring in the air and it settles deep into my bones, a rebirth.  Two years ago, that change was cutting off all of my hair - a horrid idea, now that I look back on it... blegh!  Thankfully - to myself and all who know me - I've decided to take a less dramatic route this year and simply darkened my hair to its natural color. I'm really hoping for a pre-natal massage as I forge through my most uncomfortable weeks, but I still have a ways to go before I get there.

I'm certain any pregnant woman would agree that bath time is their most cherished time of the day.  To be weightless, even for a moment, is pure bliss.  I'm lucky if I ever get a bath to myself anymore though, so my littlest companion has been having extra fun with her brand new bubbles from YesTo baby carrots. While I always try to source products with natural ingredients for my children, I've often forgot to do the same for myself - quite important now that I'm creating a life.  I love knowing I can join her amongst the (mile-high!) bubbles and feel comforted in the fact there aren't any icky ingredients that are so often peppered throughout our most used household and beauty items.  And anyone with a toddler knows that anything that produces a mighty foam & giant bubbles is TOPS!  I've been mulling over a post with some of my go-to natural products for baby, mom and the home for quite some time... thinking I may just need to sit down and give it a go.

Do you use natural products in your home?  Who are some of your favorite companies?

Sofia's new favorite bath bubbles and shampoo were kindly sent to us c/o YesTo baby carrots

  2. I smiled because I too chopped off the back of my hair wanting a change once (I did it myself though, it didn't look terrible because my hair's sorta curly)..

I put henna through my hair for the first time recently, it's definitely different and apparently you need a decent brand (lasconia is what I used)..

and sometimes it is just about the bubbles. x

  3. Oh, baths. Sigh.

As for natural products - I use all Method cleaning product including hand soap and sanitizer. As for baby products, though I've yet to use them, I've invested in some Earth Mama Angel Baby products for things from butt balm for diaper rashes and nipple cream for myself! Also, their shampoo/soap hybrid. They have a ton of choices!

  4. Pregnant massages are SO good. I'm trying to get one once a fortnight for the next 2 months because I feel so much better for it. That and swimming/floating. Yesterday I bobbed around in the ocean for a good half hour and it was the only time my body didn't feel sore. Re: natural stuff... I love Dr Hauschka, and dr bronner x

  6. I'm really big on natural products for the home and body. I use all natural cleaning products (some I make myself). And for me I use Verite Spa organics, for the kids Eco Store and Baobaby organics. All New Zealand made and just so beautiful. xo

  7. Yes To make the coolest products! I used to have the Yes to Tomatoes facewash. Yeah I love having something special to put in Casper's bath, I usually put rose oil and baking soda, or a bit of milk and honey!

  12. Bath time bliss! I've been slowly going through our toiletries and replacing them over time with more natural products. I like Gaia and Little Innoscents baby products for little ones.

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

Hello, It's Me

* screeeeeeech.... opens door * Hello? Are you in there? I'm baaaaaaack! Holy shnikeys! It's only been a good two years or so. Talk about a blogging hiatus. So, after many many failed attempts at fancy Squarespace sites and having absolutely zero direction on which way I wanted to go, I found myself right back here. Good 'ol blogger. Good 'ol free simple template. Good 'ol feed with all my old friends. It's been a long, long time. And it feels weird! But I'm dusting off the cobwebs anyway and just writing because I need to. Plain and simple. Now, a few things-- the blog title is a bit different. My kiddos are nearly three and five years old so diapers [thankfully] are a thing of the past. Hallelujah! And if you haven't heard, folks, skinny jeans are out. They're done! Bring on the bellbottoms, culottes and 90's fashion revival. You heard it here first, everyone. Just wait.  Also. Growing up. I kinda laugh at how much...

alba growing: one month

A few weeks ago, Little Alba turned a month old - still so new and tiny, but a precious soul that seems like she's been here all along.  Her thighs are quickly chunking up, as are her cheeks, and this mama can't get enough! The days are long and my time is stretched thin, but we are having such a wonderful time just figuring each other out. When evening hits, the tummy troubles begin and we rock and sing to make the gas bubbles go away. Once you've finally fallen asleep, you'll remain that way for the remainder of the night and we'll feed again once the day breaks.  You are alert and learning, constantly filling our hearts with more love than we ever imagined.
