"A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013."

SOFIA:  Quick to pull out the latest treasure found from my luggage, a handwoven colorful serape that was purchased in Mexico.  We have a game we call "casita" where you run and hide underneath a blanket and pretend it's your house - you giggled over and over until you were too tired to keep playing.  We missed you so much on this trip, I still laugh to myself thinking how every night your Papa and I would sit and talk in our bed, thinking about all the silly things you do with the biggest grins on our faces.

  5. oh my word, she's the best.

sean and i have a really hard time away from our girl too. just last night she stayed with her grandparents and we couldn't help but sit in bed, bringing up all the funny things she does. we try to mimic her and then we laugh and laugh - missing her dearly. often times, we drop her off with family for the night, head on a dinner date, then after, go right back to visit with her before heading home alone. we can't help it! my parents just roll their eyes like we're insane...

i wouldn't have it any other way though! ...as if i really have a choice ;)

  15. I always enjoy coming over here and looking at your photos. I look at them as a standard that I want my photos to be. This one is no exception. The warmth and grain of the wood contrasting with the brightness of the serape is perfection. And those cheeky eyes popping out from it all - icing on the cake.

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend , and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;) As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that. For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

Hello, It's Me

* screeeeeeech.... opens door * Hello? Are you in there? I'm baaaaaaack! Holy shnikeys! It's only been a good two years or so. Talk about a blogging hiatus. So, after many many failed attempts at fancy Squarespace sites and having absolutely zero direction on which way I wanted to go, I found myself right back here. Good 'ol blogger. Good 'ol free simple template. Good 'ol feed with all my old friends. It's been a long, long time. And it feels weird! But I'm dusting off the cobwebs anyway and just writing because I need to. Plain and simple. Now, a few things-- the blog title is a bit different. My kiddos are nearly three and five years old so diapers [thankfully] are a thing of the past. Hallelujah! And if you haven't heard, folks, skinny jeans are out. They're done! Bring on the bellbottoms, culottes and 90's fashion revival. You heard it here first, everyone. Just wait.  Also. Growing up. I kinda laugh at how much...

alba growing: one month

A few weeks ago, Little Alba turned a month old - still so new and tiny, but a precious soul that seems like she's been here all along.  Her thighs are quickly chunking up, as are her cheeks, and this mama can't get enough! The days are long and my time is stretched thin, but we are having such a wonderful time just figuring each other out. When evening hits, the tummy troubles begin and we rock and sing to make the gas bubbles go away. Once you've finally fallen asleep, you'll remain that way for the remainder of the night and we'll feed again once the day breaks.  You are alert and learning, constantly filling our hearts with more love than we ever imagined.
