"A portrait of my child, once a week, every week in 2013"
Sofia: Actually seeing and understanding the concept of snow, or "nooo!" for the first time.
Through all of our memories this week, this was most definitely my favorite. The way Sofia cried when I told her and her dripping, red nose that it was time to go back inside was a good indicator of just how much she loved it. You know, I never thought there would be a day when I could say honestly that a Chicago snowfall had put a smile on my face, yet here we are. Times are a-changing.
Stay warm, everyone!
(Or if you're in the southern hemisphere, stay cool...)

Beautiful Kate! Chloe loves playing in the snow too and I love how excited she gets to explore the world around her, it makes you look at everything so differently.
ReplyDeleteshe seems to be enjoying herself so thoroughly! also, it occurred to me today that there will be another little one added to this series soon enough and i really can't wait to see that come to fruition!
ReplyDeletealso, i wanted to say that your post previous to this resonated so completely with me, it was as if i was reading my own writing. why must winter linger (ha! it's only been two months... oh my)
but, mostly, to relate to another in feeling we aren't quite as perfect or successful than those whose blogs we read... and trying to remind ourselves that, like us, they're only sharing the good, understandably so. it really is nice to remember that we all have different things we're faced with.
This photo is stunning.
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful.
What a cute little coat she's wearing!
ReplyDeleteFound your link via the 52 project.
ReplyDeleteOh my, your blog is lovely. My husband and I used to live in Chicago too, so looking through your photos makes me miss Chicago (the city mostly, not the weather). I feel like you're a kindred spirit just by browsing through your posts. I've found a new favorite blog.
Cheers.
So wishing it would actually snow here and not just freeze over! I love this photo by the way. :)

I love Chicago winters :) I never thought I would say that either! Now that I'm spending 'winter' in the southern hemisphere, I'm definitely missing these white days.
ReplyDeleteSo cute is Sophia all rugged up with little bits of snow falling on her. :) x
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all these snow pictures, I wish we had snow here but we have to travel miles in the winter. My boys have never been. What a magical moment for your little girl..x
ReplyDeleteI love this Kate! You can actually see the snow falling :) Such a lovely picture of Little Miss Sofia... I'm envious of your snow!
ReplyDeleteSophie xo
I love the bright pink hood against the bleak backdrop. Snow seems so very strange to this southern-hemisphere mid-summer mamma. I can't wait to one day show my little one snow, I can only hope he has such an excited reaction as Sofia.

Great capture!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!Did you this picture with a lensbaby. It is absolutely beautiful. xx
ReplyDeleteI remember when we took our babes to the snow for the first time. The look on their faces was priceless. xx
This was with a Canon 28mm 1.8 lens, and you're right! The look on her face was one I'll always remember x
DeleteSo beautiful. I wish we lived in the snow again.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture! I can never quite catch the snowflakes in my pictures. Beautiful. xo
ReplyDeleteMy little one just loved getting completely soaked in the Seattle rain, and sobbed whenever we would go in, even though he was soaking and cold! It's so beautiful how children can love something so much. Wonderful photo!
ReplyDeleteAn incredibly magical snapshot of your beautiful Spohia.

- whoops! Excuse the typo, *Sofia
DeleteArgk, she looks so utterly gorgeous all snowed up and leopard print. Adorbs. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture :)

ReplyDeleteLovely
ReplyDeleteAnd seeing them enjoy (or you know, not enjoy when they faceplant and realise its cold;) the snow is beautiful
snow! x
ReplyDeleteSuch a great shot! I love that you can see individual snowflakes coming down. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteSnow can be miserable but sometimes there is a little bit of magic hidden in it. A few of my favorite childhood memories are of playing in the snow - and the warm socks, blankets and cocoa that would follow. I love all of sofia's little hats. So cute.
ReplyDeleteWow -- fantastically beautiful capture! So sweet. <3
ReplyDeleteI love this capture. Absolutely perfect.
