bump : week 24










Life has been cold and rainy, with bits of snow and ice thrown in for good measure.  We live in what I would consider "typical" Chicago - bricks and alleys, power lines, sirens blaring, and of course, houses built only a few feet from one another.  There are so many wonderful places to see in the city, but my heart still aches for the lush green and open fields of the countryside.  When we finally settle in on a true home, I'm hoping we can compromise somewhere in the middle.  Until then, I am seeing bits of the beauty around me - even if it is fighting to stay alive.

    I had to full screen this one... the one of your belly up close is breathtaking. you're legit glowing. i always thought it was one of those weird cliche's that people say to pregnant folks but i GET it now. you take on pregnancy beautifully, girl.

    Thank you all, I'm so blessed to have Erick capturing these... and I can't believe how much my bump has grown in just a week!! (Though, I am behind again... tsk on me!) 25 weeks will be coming in just a few days! :)

the birthing of alba mae

From the beginning, this pregnancy seemed so much the same, yet so distinctly different all at once. I didn't get sick, I wasn't too turned away by my favorite foods, I had occasional heartburn here and there and overall, was able to relax and enjoy the experience.  What was strange was how differently I was carrying - having been told more times than I could count that I had looked as if I had "swallowed a basketball".  I think I was persuaded a few times in my head that maybe this was  different, maybe it really was a baby boy.  Yet still, in my heart I had an overwhelming intuition I would be holding another little girl in my arms, someone so very similar to her sister yet so distinctly different all at once.
